We recognise that pregnancy and childbirth is a life changing experience full of excitement and perhaps fear. Our aim is safe delivery for Mothers and Babies within an environment of informed choice.  With that in mind we cater for both high and low risk pregnancies.

After booking your appointment with Nicola, your journey generally begins with a visit at 10- 12 weeks gestation with your consultant obstetrician Dr O’Donnell and his specialist midwife Julia.

  • Further visits are scheduled initially at 4 weekly intervals but reduce to weekly visits towards the end of pregnancy.
  • Each visit will include ultrasound assessment of your babies well being. 
  • Confinement / delivery will take place at University Hospital Waterford.
  • A further visit will take place 6 weeks after the baby is born.

We also offer preconception discussion and advice for women who have complex medical problems to allow us to optimise your health prior to embarking on a pregnancy.

Various forms of fetal health screening are also on offer including Non Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) – A new form of screening which helps to identify babies who are likely to have chromosomal problems.
